The personal information you provide may identify you and your business individually, and may include items such as your name and email address, job title, company name and address, and phone number. You choose to provide any such information on a free basis and if you refrain from providing certain personal information this may limit the value of our assistance and service which you requested. 2. Information collected automatically
Urban Science may also use server log analysis tools to collect certain other information. This information may include your Internet Protocol (“IP”) address, your Internet Service Provider (“ISP”) and your domain name. An IP address is a number that is automatically assigned to your computer by the ISP through which you access the Internet; an ISP is a company that provides access to the Internet; and a domain name is the string of letters, numbers, and hyphens that is used to point to an IP address. Urban Science uses this information for system administration. Urban Science does not link IP addresses or domain names with any personal information, which means that a visitor’s session will be logged on our servers but the visitor will not be identified.
Urban Science may collect information via a number of other technologies, including cookies, web beacons, clear GIFs and other means. If you visit our website to inform yourself about our services, the temporary storage of access data and log files takes place on the basis of providing this website’s information services to you. In addition, our legitimate interest serves as a legal basis for the temporary storage of access data and log files. Our legitimate interest is to provide you with a technically functioning and user-friendly website and to ensure the security of our systems.
Cookies
A “cookie” is a small text file that is transferred to your browser and stores information about your interactions with a particular website. A cookie is then read by the web server that placed it on your browser. It works as a sort of identification card, recording your preferences and recalling previously entered information. By using cookies, your navigation time is reduced and use of a website is simplified.
Urban Science uses two types of cookies:
- A “session” cookie is temporary and is deleted once you close your browser. Session cookies are used to help a user’s browser navigate a website more smoothly. Session cookies can also give helpful information.
- A “persistent” cookie is more permanent and is stored on the hard drive of your computer. Persistent cookies are used to customize a website for a user. They may store passwords, preferences, registration and account information so that users do not have to reenter this information each time they visit the website.
A cookie cannot be executed as code or deliver viruses. Urban Science uses both session and persistent cookies to collect and store information that allows us to offer better customer service and ensure easy navigation through our Site.
You have the option of setting your browser to disable or remove cookies. In most cases, if you disable the cookie you are still able to use the Site. Please note, however, that by disabling cookies, your ability to use some areas of the Site may be limited.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google Inc., hereinafter “Google.” Google Analytics uses cookies enabling an analysis of how the website is used. You can prevent the installation of cookies by setting your browser software accordingly. However, in this case you may not be able to fully use all functions of our Site. The information generated by these cookies will be transferred to Google in the United States and stored there. This information is then used to evaluate visitors’ use of the website and to compile statistical reports on website activity for Urban Science. Google may also transfer this information to third parties, provided this is required by law or if third parties process this data on behalf of Google.
We use Google Analytics with the addition “gat._anonymizeIp” on our Site. In this case, your IP address will be abbreviated by Google already within the Member States of the European Union or the European Economic Area and thus anonymized. Only in exceptional cases the full IP address will be transferred to and saved on a Google server.
Furthermore, you may use a Google deactivation add-on, which is accessible for most common browsers. For more information on installing the browser add-on, please visit: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=en/. For more information on Google Analytics privacy terms and conditions and use of cookies, please visit the Google Privacy Policy: http://www.google.de/intl/de/policies/privacy/
The above cookie-based data processing is carried out to safeguard our legitimate interests or on the basis of your consent (legal basis). In particular, our legitimate interests are to be able to provide you with a technically optimized, user-friendly and needs-oriented website and to protect the security of our systems.
